Character Analysis
Abigail Williams, The center of attention. She was not raised as a child. She was abused and
hated. Every chance she has she will do anything to get what she wants by using evil. She is
feared by people around. There is nothing to be loved about Abigail. she is only good for evil. Her
power of getting what she wants is by using the darkness inside her.
At the beginning, Abigail was being uncontrollable. She drank blood which shows that she
was desperate. She also ran naked in the woods happy as if she was really communicating with
witches. She made everything seem so real. This shows how she will do anything and will believe
anything to take chances as much as she can get John Proctor.
At first, Abigail was just having fun in the woods but when everyone started saying that it was
witchcraft she was afraid to get in trouble and too afraid to even tell the the truth. Reverrend
Parris saw half of the scene. Betty was inert and made a big scene about how she wants to die
and see her mom again. This was another reason why people believed witchcraft exist because
Betty was acting as if evil was inside her or in other words, possessed. Abigail and Tituba started
pointing fingers on people. Accusing them to get rid of what they've done.
By the end of the play characters reveal their true colors before the hanging. Innocent people
who were accused made decisions by choosing either live to regret or die with pride and truth.
When people made decisions this shows the good in people and the bad. John Proctor dies with
the truth and pride. John Proctors admits his adultery with Abigail.
She ran away from home with the money of her uncle Reverened Parris. She became a
prostitute. Her life is probably a mess with guilt built down her heart and will be with her in the
grave. She just was never thought the right way to have respect for herself. From all the
character Abigail Williams is the guilty one.
